Our Story

Floasis Spoken Word Poetry LLC is a poetry venue and brand initially based in the heart of Downtown Riverside, California. Established on March 17, 2011, it settled into its first home, the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf coffee shop on Mission Inn Avenue. The road to growth wasn’t easy, but Floasis continued to push the spoken word movement despite its adversities. Then, with the increase of its following came the time to relocate to a new creative space. In 2012, Back to the Grind coffee shop owner Darren graciously opened his doors, and the coffee shop’s basement is where it hosted until March 2020. When the pandemic reared its ugly head in 2020, Floasis embarked on a new avenue, virtual shows, for over a year, expanding their following and viewership worldwide.

They celebrate 13+ successful years of curating events, building their brand, and impacting lives. As the pandemic ended, in late 2021 to early 2022, Floasis moved to the historic Life Arts Center in Riverside, California. Nearly every month, poetry lovers from near and far come to get their souls fed from this one-of-a-kind venue. Known for its unique themes, feel-good music, positive vibes, and party atmosphere, Floasis doesn’t just bring its attendees poetry shows but poetry experiences. Established to give local, talented, up-and-coming artists a voice and a platform to showcase their passion, it is a poetic paradise for the floetically passionate. Now, they are excited to bring the vibes to Long Beach! It’s the Culture. It’s the Voice. It’s the Movement. It’s the Soul. It’s Floasis.

OWNER, HOST
CONCRETE ROSE

Tianti Mhonaé, poetically known as Concrete Rose, is a Long Beach-based vivacious and unflinching personality fit for the camera and the stage. Deeply rooted in the Inland Empire, she embraced the power of her pen and her voice as a youth. Concrete Rose discovered her true love for spoken word in the 11th grade, right in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. She has performed on countless oratorical, theater, and poetry stages. Her talent and passion for pushing the creative arts movement forward paved her entrepreneurial path. So on March 17th, 2011, Floasis Spoken Word Poetry was born in Downtown Riverside, with a successful 13-year run currently. The unique spoken word brand and venue will debut in Long Beach, California, in early 2024. In 2020, Concrete Rose was one of the top 12 poets chosen out of 50 to feature in the historical Pan African Film Festival's Annual Spoken Word Festival. Her talent, passion, hard work, dedication, and vision will cement her legacy. As a multi-faceted artist, Concrete Rose prides herself on knowing that her foundation consists of not bricks nor wood but women who have paved the way.
